Your child’s attendance has a direct impact on their academic success. Missing a day here and there can add up quickly. If we can support you in any way please let us know.

Attendance Policy:
When a student is absent from school, he/she must bring a handwritten note from a parent/guardian indicating the reason for the absence or a doctor’s note. In addition to sending a handwritten note, it would be helpful for parents to contact the teacher on the morning of the absence. Absences are coded only as excused or unexcused (truant). Illness, court, and death in the immediate family are excused. Any type of family or organizational trip that is not a scheduled school trip will be coded as unexcused regardless of the educational value. If a student fails to bring a note from the parent, the absence is coded as unexcused. Students with six (6) or more unexcused absences will be reported to the Attendance Intervention Team. After eight (8) absences total, a doctor’s note is required for future absences. After a total of ten unexcused absences, the district attorney and/or juvenile court will be notified, and parents and students will have to appear in court to justify absences. Upon returning to school, students have (3) days to make-up missed work. All missed work due to an absence is expected to be made up in a timely manner.
